Workbook 2 and 3

Workbook 2 and 3 are due next week: October 19th for B class; October 21st for D class.  Directions are below:

DIRECTIONS:  SECTION A
STEP 1: Label the top of a new page in your workbook with “Workbook Assignment #2: Design Fundamentals: Rhythm and paste this assignment onto the page

STEP 2: Trace the template into your sketchbook 4 times.  Label the boxes underneath each as follows:


Rhythm through repetition                     Rhythm through progression      
  Rhythm through transition                           Rhythm through radiation



STEP 3: Using construction paper; fadeless paper and glue, create a mini composition in the box for each of the above concepts.  Refer to your notes; the Internet or come see me prior to the due date if you are in need of help. You may choose a theme if you’d like to (example: insects; flowers; shoes; furniture; etc.)

STEP 4: Use markers, colored pencils or Sharpie to add onto the compositions to make them show the concepts in Step 2 as clearly as possible

DIRECTIONS:  SECTION B
STEP 1: Label the top of a new page in your workbook with Workbook Assignment #3: Design Fundamentals: Gestalt and paste this assignment onto the page

STEP 2: Looking through the images you collected for your Design File – pick one that exhibits gestalt in one of the following ways.  Then describe specifically HOW that gestalt is created in the space – through the type and setup of furniture; color; pattern; materials, etc. Please use complete sentences.  Please list what design you used in your file (ex: kitchen #1; dining room #4, public space #3, etc.)

STEP 3: Repeat step 2 above, this time using a different image from your design file and a different type of gestalt than you picked in step 2.
